George Romick
Director at LargeI am George Romick, Director and Curator of the Thunder Bay Military Museum (TBMM), where I have volunteered for the past 16 years. With my 47 years service with the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve, I have learned leadership and organizational skills from planning and executing numerous events & functions.
As Director of the TBMM, I have had the experience of working with a number of organizations, including Lakehead University’s Department of History, Thunder Bay Public Library, Thunder Bay Museum, Royal Canadian Legion, etc. I participated in numerous committees for the end of the First World War Anniversary for a four-year time frame, including the City of the Poppy Working Group Committee, and the 100th Anniversary of WWI Commemoration Steering Committee.
From 2020 to 2024 I held different positions within the OMMC, starting in 2020 as a member of the Honours & Awards Committee, then on the Governance Committee from 1 Nov 2021 to 2024. I was voted in as a OMMC Board of Director in June 2022 to June 2024, which I was also the Vice President of OMMC from 2022-2024. I was also part of the OMMC Studies Program Committee Member 2022 – 2024 and the OMMC Honours & Awards Chair 2023-2024.
With decades of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, 16 years of experience with the CAF Museum network, and my past position with the OMMC, I feel that I have the leadership, experience and organizational skills that would benefit the OMMC as a Director.
